A handmade bar left standing in its own puddle softens and washes away. A slatted alder dish, a bamboo dish or a draining pouch lets the bar dry between uses, and a dry bar lasts roughly twice as long. The saver pouch doubles as a way to use up the last sliver, which otherwise cracks and goes down the drain.

The alder dish is a solid slatted block that sits flat on a counter. The bamboo dish is lighter and travels better. The saver pouch is a drawstring bag that lathers through its own weave, so the bar never touches a wet surface at all — it is the option for a shower with nowhere flat to put a dish. All three are bought once and outlast a great many bars.
